Video...a bigger bag of weed. (HAKGTWC)May 12, '08 4:31 AM
for everyone
okay, so i finally was able
to watch Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle,
four years after it was originally released!

i kept seeing it on E! back then,
and i got really curious and had a hunch
it would be funny.

four years and an internet connection later,
i suddenly remembered i still haven't seen it.

so, i went ahead and downloaded this:
[harold and kumar]

the only drawback about watching this film was
that i couldn't laugh as loud as i want
because i watched this at the ungodly hours of 1-3 AM.

but it was hell-arious! [rofl]
in the tradition of Dude, Where's My Car?,
this definitely hits the spot!

this has immediately found its way on top
of my all-time favorite movies list!

and this video clip right here explains why.

this is my favorite scene in the movie.
and it doesn't take a "ganjer"

(term ingeniously invented by Raffy)

to find this scene funny.

that along with the Battle Shit scene:
[eatshit]

[battle shit]

i would assume everyone's already seen this movie.
but if you haven't, go ahead and watch it.

it is definitely worth it!

Next on my (and my best bud's) list:

[haroldandkumar escape]

I captured this through The KMPlayer. I highly recommend it.

again, i went for taken by cars.
and i was hoping i'd get to meet the jocks,
especially Hilary,
with whom i shared many a sleepless night
when she was still at KLITE,
and when KLITE still existed on air
(of course it will always exist in me).
and if you know me personally,
you probably know how i followed Hilary.
(did that just sound stalker-ish?)

so anyway,
i guess i was one with the universe
because i did meet her!
so, aside from the fact that we
couldn't get in the "inner core"of the crowd,
the night was rocking for me because of that.
because i finally met Hilary.

i remember her telling me i should
drop by the station (KLITE) sometime
so we could hang out and
"talk about our travails as PK's"
those, i believe, where her exact words.
that, of course, never did happen.
and it would take her to move to JAM
and be present at the Music Fest
for us to finally meet in person.

boy was i shaking! ehehe..
i did not know how to approach her,
or what i should say,
so me and my sister followed her
for a good 30 seconds before
i actually got the nerve to say,

"Excuse me, Hilary? Uhh---do you still remember me?"

"Oh, I'm sorry, I don't---"

"I'm PK James from KLITE---"

and it rang a bell and she remembers me! [woot!]
of course, i'm not sure if those were the exact words
because i was too busy being nervous and all.

[omfg]boy, that was the best moment in my recent history!

we took pictures and i continued to tremble.

that totally rocked my night! [headbang]

as for the rest of the evening,
the bands were great, save for the former [chico] Science.
and of course, taken by cars was there!

on top of everything i was with my best bud, with Rizza, withmy sister, her cool friend, my fellow genius cousin
---sure, we could've tagged along more people,
but at least we still had fun.
i know i did!

i dozed off at bout 4 this afternoon.

woke up around 8.

i noticed the lightning was fairly busy tonight.
i lay silent, mindlessly counting the flashes.

it took me about 10 minutes
before i finally got up, set up the camera
and clicked away.

full opening. (F2.8)
slowest shutter speed. (80/10)

i took approximately 10 shots
and only in two did the lightning cooperate.

all while, my radio was on.
it got frustrating to try and capture lightning strokes.

so i gave up, and chose a different subject:
the radio.

video did kill the radio.

can you guess what station i was tuned in to?
(not that it matters or anything. hehe)

well, i guess it'll take a long while
before i could do this again:

this is probably the most embarrassing thing i've willingly done to date.

but, in this day and age of internet memes
scattered on all places such as YouTube,
it's hard to avoid the trend rubbing off on you.

so here's my shot at it.

i've always wanted to do one from the time
i saw Milk and Cereal.

but it would take me to listen to Pedicab,
Taken by Cars and Sandwich to go ahead and do it.

as stated on the description of this video
on my YouTube Channel,
this is unlike most internet video memes
where (almost always) two guys sit in front of a webcam,
lipsync to a cheesy song, and act crazy.

i have my own way of doing it, i guess.

which may also mean the video is boring. [eatshit]

so, if you have nothing better to do,
go on and watch it.
[pc]

don't say i didn't warn you.

(oh, and, i'm sort of planning to make more. haha.) [boxers]

Blog Entrywow DAILY MONSTER! JON, pa-BURGER ka na MAN!May 5, '08 4:05 AM
for everyone
okay, this one's a visual treat for y'all.

so everytime i see this PEPSI ad on an old issue of GQ
(the one with Heath Ledger on the cover),
it always draws me in.

it's no secret that PEPSI and COKE have been battling it out
in terms of graphically positioning their names in the market,
and in our memories, no less. (ever seen the PEPSI mural on C5?)

and i must admit, COKE has always been a forerunner in this one.

but sometimes, i just have to hand it over to PEPSI for goin
g alternative.
i mean, COKE usually plays the in-your-face advertising card.
and PEPSI silently surprises visual puppies like me.

that's not the issue, though.

back to that magazine ad, it looked really street-art-ish.
the kind i like seeing these days. which is why i stare at that ad
for as long as i wish. it looks a little something like this:

(i couldn't rip the ad from some website as of this writing,
and i'm too damned lazy to scan, so)

imagine: in shades of blue, red, and white, of course.
and with music in the theme.

(hey this looks like the cover of Sandwich's Five on the Floor!)

anyway, Jon Burgerman is the man behind this.

and this too (click image for full view):

and i just love his work!

seeing all this (and more on his website) really drives me to draw.
doesn't matter what, i just feel like drawing when i see his work.

good times!

now, watching Net25's Convergence isn't just Official Geek Hour for me.
because they usually have features about lifestyle, music, and of course ART.

which led me to Daily Monster.

it is actually a typepad account where Stefan G. Bucher
posts videos of him drawing his monsters---daily i would assume.

so far, i've seen only two: Monster #001 and #200,
who i really love! watch him come to life:

i dunno why i love the works of these artists.

kidding! like heck i do.

i believe their style is something i seem to lean towards.
most, not all, of my works are surprisingly similar
to Bucher's---his typography mostly.

they stir up the visual artist in me.

It's finally here, and i finally have it!!!

[clap]

i'm gonna have total eargasm listening to this.

yes, i haven't listened to the album in toto.

i'm still compressing it.

but i know, after two albums,
i've never been disappointed with them.

for a reason i can't quite put my finger on yet.

all the same, i know they rock! [horns]

so, a five star would be a staple for this review.
unless, of course, something i hear makes me change my mind.

(which i highly doubt at the same time)

so if you'll excuse me,
i have some major ear-piercing, heart-pounding,
teeth-gnawing musical gormandizing to do.

VideoMasks by PandaPanther (Zune Arts)May 2, '08 2:03 AM
for everyone
i learned about this animation
(and Zune Arts, for that matter) on deviantART,
particularly from Brendon Ellis
who is also here on multiply.

see, he posted a journal about being hired
(their batch graduated this year, BFA-TUP also)
and he posted this link about a cool animation he saw.

so i checked it out and found out
it's a film animation project on Zune Arts.

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

all i know about the Zune was that Microsoft
desperately wooed and courted a lot of indie bands
to get its then up-and-coming media player
associated with the Indie scene.

now, about how successful Microsoft was
in competing with Apple and if
their record-breaking deals with big record labels
gave them any advantage in this market
is a different story.

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

the point here is
that they were pretty successful
in associating the Zune with the Indie scene.

an ad on Fader would prove me that.

and from then on, i swore on my little black book that:
Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

anyway, so now, they're apparently
into artists too---visual artists, at that.

and that's really kewl.

and here's just one of the many works on
the Zune Arts site.

i do not know
why i love this video.

i haven't been the biggest fan
of the band since Acel left,
but i guess
this is the first time i'm actually
loving their video
and their song.

what i love most about this is
the use of colors.

AND it features a lomo!

(if i'm not mistaken, a Holga!)
[holga]

do watch out for that in Act 7.

shibby!

and please watch it until the end,
that is if you haven't seen the full video yet,
in which case, your really should.

good times!

invited by Rizza, and driven by
the crazy urge to see Taken By Cars raw and live,
i just had to go.

set aside the [censored]ing posers
and the filthy emo kids,
the night was rocking hot!

I, Raffy, Rizza, and Jessika
had a blast.
mostly due to the amazing bands
we did not expect to see.

i personally digged
Top Junk,
Pedicab,
and of course Taken By Cars!!!

they did not disappoint,
save for the bands that naturally suck [boo],
and whose names will not be mentioned
for this shoe-gazer's fear of seven years bad luck.

needless to say, these same bands that suck
were the ones the [censored]ing posers
and the filthy emo kids slammed about for.
pathetic really.
i mean, who would want to mosh like mad
over a band who promotes the night's official drink?
apparently, posers would. (as expected)

so much for filthiness and suckiness,
like i said, most of the bands were
rocking hot! [headbang]

- Jeepney Joyride (always fun to see live)
- Top Junk (cool surprise!)
- Taken By Cars (the reason for it all)

- *those we don't speak of* (where did ChicoScience go?)
- Cambio (Diego Mapa No.1)
- Pedicab (Diego Mapa No.2 Yeah!)
- Sandwich (antaba ni Raymond!)

(15 bands total, these were the only ones we cared about)

Blog EntryBB proud to BB pinoy!Apr 24, '08 4:35 PM
for everyone
nope, that is not a typo,
neither a keyboard malfunction.

that, my much-appreciated multiply readers,
is Marc Jacobs' chosen moniker for a new bag,
humbly named after BryanBoy no less.

yep, it's official!
finally, after months of blog-induced rumors,
even from BB himself, news is out.

this was unearthed from his blog,
and the original article from
Conde Nast Portfolio reads:

"
But the most surprising thing involved one of those bags. Days after the show, the blogosphere was busily buzzing about it: The large, ostrich leather tote with sunray designs spreading across one side was called “BB”—and it turned out that the name came from Jacobs’ favorite blog, BryanBoy, a deliciously funny read obsessed with all things fashion, especially the blogger’s favorite designer, Marc Jacobs. The bag will retail this September for $1,295 in leather and $4,800 for the ostrich version.

“Love your passion for fashion—after all, where would designers be without enthusiasm like yours?” Jacobs is quoted on the 19-year-old Manila-based blogger’s homepage.

As a powerhouse designer and one of the key figures on our Brilliant List, Jacobs, who is notorious for running late (his shows rarely start on time), would seem to have little time to read blogs. But as the internet has taken on a greater role in fashion, from live video of the runways to up-to-the-minute perspective and commentary on the latest trends, it has become an essential source for designers. Besides BryanBoy, Jacobs also makes a point of reading the more serious On the Runway, the fashion industry blog from New York Times writer Cathy Horyn.
"

and, unfortunately, as of this writing,
i couldn't find a snapshot of that
blog-buzz-worthy bag.

but, the important thing is that
we have something else
to be proud of these days.

aside from the ever-growing presence
of Filipinos on YouTube,
(encompassing all categories from Music
to Downright Disturbing and Ridiculous),

BryanBoy puts something out there
no other Filipino can.

and the world reads.

the world notices.

and now, the world
has the bag to prove it.

so chin up kababayans,
because hell, these days,
there are lots of reasons
we can BB proud to BB Pinoy!

this is us unwinding

..................................................................................................................

pardon the low video quality and mediocre editing.
the excuse? read:
- not enough hard drive space to use Adobe Premiere Pro 2
- Nero Vision 4 (movie maker) cannot handle photos---or i haven't figured it out yet, but my sister has and she doesn't remember how!
- ergo, i opted for an even more mediocre-average-user-video-editing-software that is Windows Movie Maker

for everyone
I roll the window down
And then begin to breathe in
The darkest country road
And the strong scent of evergreen
From the passenger seat
as you are driving me home.

Then looking upwards
I strain my eyes and try
To tell the difference between
shooting stars and satellites
From the passenger seat
as you are driving me home.

"Do they collide?"
I ask and you smile.

With my feet on the dash
The world doesn't matter.

When you feel embarrassed
then I'll be your pride
When you need directions
then I'll be the guide

For all time.
For all time.
